Sabine Tejpar (ST): ST holds an MD (1995) and a PhD (2000) and is trained as both a gastroenterologist and Oncologist. in Leuven, Belgium. Since 2003 she is working as a fulltime appointed staff Digestive oncologist at the Dept. of Gastro Enterology, University Hospital Leuven, Belgium, as part of a 4 person team treating all GI cancers, running the clinical trials and the screening and prevention efforts. She is a full professor at the Dept. of oncology, KU Leuven, Belgium and in since 2003 set up and leads the Laboratory of Molecular Digestive Oncology, KU Leuven.
At the KUL she is a board member of the Department of Oncology steering council and board member and executive comm member of the Leuven Cancer Institute (LKI). She is also Co-promotor of LKI Immune Oncology IOF program, Board Member of Institutional Biobank board and Member of the FACS Core steering comm.
She was a Board member of the EORTC and chair of the EORTC Translational Research Advisory Committee from 2016 till 2021 and now holds the position of past chair. With the EORTC she started op the IMI EU Immucan project in 2019 and is part of the project executive committee.
As an MD with dual training, in clinical Gastroenterology and Oncology, as well as in Molecular Biology during her PhD at the Center for Human Genetics, she approaches cancer from a molecular biology perspective. with combined approach, systematically integrating disease complexity seen at the clinical level to targeted biological interrogation.
