Markus Moehler is Head of GI Oncology at the Mainz University Clinic, Germany. After his studies at Heidelberg, Germany and Yeshiva University, New York, he did his MD thesis supervised by nobel prize lauteate H. zur Hausen. Then, he was a 2-years-postDoc at German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg. Currently he is PI in many national and international clinical studies on new targeted and immune therapeutic agents.
He received his Degree of Internal Medicine and his ESMO Certificate in 2003.
In February 2005, he made his PhD, became Head for Gastrointestinal Oncology.
Apart from many German associations (DKG, DGVS, DGHO, Gene therapy group etc), he is active member of EORTC, ASCO, ESMO and AIO.
He is chairing the EORTC Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Group since January 2021.
He was principal investigator on numerous national and international phase I-III clinical studies, particularly of new targeted therapies such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immunotherapy. For the German AIO and EORTC, he organized at least 20 randomized phase II-III trials (mostly IIT studies) on advanced GI cancers and has been involved in the development of many new targeted and immune therapeutic agents, such as checkpoint inhibitors
