Oliver Strobel, MD, is Professor of Visceral Surgery as well as the Head of the Division of Visceral Surgery and of the Department of General Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria.
He studied medicine at the University of Saarland, the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, and the University of Berne and received his surgical training at the University Hospitals of Berne and Heidelberg. He did a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Department of Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, with a focus on pancreatic cancer biology. At Heidelberg University Hospital he received a broad training in surgical oncology and transplantation surgery and then focused on advanced pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery.
Oliver Strobel has published over 300 scientific manuscripts in the field of HPB surgery. His main research focus is on advanced pancreatic cancer surgery and on translational research to improve the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
